“CHRISTIANITY. Christianity was introduced by the Church Missionary Society in 1843, first into Abẹ́òkúta via Badagry, and from thence to Ìbàdàn in May 1851, and also to Ìjàyè. On January 10, 1852, the C.M.S. removed their base from Badagry to Lagos. From Abẹ́òkúta, mission stations were planted at the Oke Ogun and Egbado districts, from Ìbàdàn missions were planted at Ìwó, Mọ́dàkẹ́kẹ́, Ifẹ̀, Òṣogbo and Ilẹ̀ṣà.
